Fires still rage in Rakhine despite Suu Kyi's claims: Amnesty report

MYANMAR (Web Desk) -The fire has continued to rage in Rohingya villages despite state counselor Aung San Suu Kyi’s claims that military operations have ended there.

This was revealed by Human Rights group Amnesty International (AI) in London.

Amnesty International Director of crisis response Tirana Hasan said, in a statement, that the fire was started by members of the Myanmar security forces and vigilante mobs.

Meanwhile, a top U.S. diplomat for Southeast Asia has said that America remains deeply troubled by the ongoing crisis and allegations of human rights violation in Rakhine.

According to the reports, the latest violence in Myanmar has sent an estimated 429,000 Rohingya refugees fleeing to Bangladesh in less than a month.
